Sky News’ Chief Correspondent Stuart Ramsay is in Italy’s coronavirus epicentre – the town of Bergamo. Watch his report about life in the town residents are describing as ‘apocalyptic’ where the ambulance sirens never stop.

Death in Bergamo: More people have now died from Covid-19 in Italy than in China. With 200 deaths last week alone, Bergamo is one of the worst affected cities in Italy. Cemetery workers bury one person every 30 minutes. COVID-19 funerals are held without a priest and family. As the city’s crematorium is no longer sufficient, the army takes the bodies away to be cremated elsewhere in the country. And, the hospital is on the verge of collapse, as already 30% of Bergamo caregivers have been tested covid-19 positive.
